DECEMBER 1, 2023 | Final deadline to submit any Cost of Attendance (COA) budget adjustment forms for the Fall 2023 semester. Forms submitted AFTER December 1 will still be processed but refunds will not be made until after January 3, 2024. ***FAFSA applications for the 2024-25 academic year will be available online at studentaid.gov some time in December 2023 Our Title IV code is 001325 and it must be listed on your FAFSA. |
DECEMBER 2, 2023 | Anticipated Spring 2024 semester bills posted on myUSF online student accounts. |
JANUARY 2, 2024 | Spring 2024 Tuition Payment Deadline. |
Spring 2024 Financial Aid Disbursement The Student Financial Services Office begins financial aid disbursement on January 2, 2024, and will continue processing disbursements for any late spring registrants or late financial aid recipients twice a week, on Mondays and Wednesdays. |

Spring 2024 Financial Aid Refund Process If a refund is due to you after your tuition bill is paid, the first scheduled refund will be processed on January 2, 2024. Please allow 3-5 business days AFTER funds disburse to receive funds via direct deposit. Direct deposit information is available online via your myUSF online student portal. If you did not set up direct deposit, a refund will be sent to your local address. Refund checks are usually received 10-15 business days after funds are disbursed. Refunds are processed twice a week by the USF Student Accounts office on Mondays and Wednesdays. |

FEBRUARY 1, 2024 | New Law Students – Priority deadline to submit 2024-25 FAFSA Submitting a FAFSA by this date is especially important for new law students in order to receive a financial aid award notice in late March. |
MARCH 1, 2024 | Continuing Law Students- Priority deadline to submit 2024-25 FAFSA Submitting a FAFSA by this date is especially important for continuing law students needing Federal Work-Study aid for the upcoming Fall 2024 & Spring 2025 academic year. |
MARCH 25, 2024 | Financial Aid Award Notification for 2024-25 academic year The USF Financial Aid Office will begin financial aid award processing in early March for all USF students as long as your 2024-25 FAFSA has been received. In early April, USF continuing students will be notified via e-mail sent to your usfca.edu e-mail account. |
APRIL 5, 2024 | Summer 2024 Intent to Enroll (ITE) due Applications for Summer 2024 financial aid are due and must be submitted to the Law Financial Aid Office. All applicants must have completed a 2023-24 FAFSA at Federal Student Aid. Final deadline to complete and submit a 2023-24 FAFSA for financial aid for the current 2023-24 academic year at Federal Student Aid. Final deadline to submit any Cost of Attendance (COA) budget adjustment forms for the Spring 2024 semester. |

MAY 15, 2024 | Priority deadline to “accept” the Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan online for the 2024-25 academic year via your myUSF online student portal. Priority deadline to “accept” the Federal Direct Graduate PLUS Loan online for the 2024-25 academic year via your myUSF online student portal. If you are awarded this aid after May 15, you can still “accept” this aid after May 15, but you should do so as soon as possible to ensure proper processing for the upcoming Fall 2024 semester. Failure to “accept” this federal aid in a timely manner could jeopardize your ability to utilize the aid to help pay for your Fall 2024 semester tuition bill which is due on August 1. IMPORTANT: *Applicants admitted after July 15 should “accept” their DL Unsubsidized and DL Graduate PLUS award as soon it is made available to help with your fall semester bill. *Late admits will be provided additional assistance to ensure their financial aid processing is complete before the fall semester payment deadline of August 1. |
JUNE 1 - July 31, 2024 | New Borrowers only – Begin completing Master Promissory Note (MPN) and Online Entrance Counseling requirements for Federal Direct Unsubsidized and PLUS Loans at Federal Student Aid website. The University Financial Aid Office begins updating continuing law students’ financial aid records to note 2024-25 PLUS Loan applications and credit approval notices; PLUS Loan applications and credit approvals for new admits will be updated to your respective financial aid records after the June 21 second deposit deadline. |
June 21, 2024 | The University Financial Aid Office will begin downloading PLUS Loan credit approvals for new admits as well as Master Promissory Note (MPN) completion notices for both the Unsubsidized and PLUS Loans. This is done only AFTER you have submitted your second deposit. July 5 – Fall 2024 Tuition Bill Notice Email Notification |
July 31, 2024 | Priority deadline to complete online direct deposit enrollment. You do not need to re-enroll if you are already enrolled and your bank account is still active. Direct deposit enrollment information is available at myUSF . |

How to file a Cost of Attendance Appeal
Set up a time to talk to us. You can schedule a virtual appointment, call us at (415) 422-3387, email us at lawfinaid@usfca.edu, or visit us in-person in Kendrick Hall, room 225. We will ask you questions to better understand your request.

If you are eligible for a Cost of Attendance appeal, you will receive an email notification to log in to an online platform where you will be asked to upload a statement explaining your request and supporting documentations. The sooner we receive your documents, the sooner we can move forward in the process.

1. If your request is denied, you will be notified via email with a reason as to why your request was denied. Please read the email carefully. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us.
Required Documents
- A statement explaining your request for an adjustment to your cost of attendance including the amounts you are requesting.
- Supporting documentation that shows the amounts paid.
- Receipts of purchases
- Rental agreement or mortgage statements
- Class syllabus or letter from your program showing the required books and supplies
