Biography

Cliff Kuehn teaches trademark law and supervises students in the Internet & Intellectual Property Justice Clinic, and is Senior Counsel at the San Francisco office of Pirkey Barber, a full-service trademark firm. He assists startups through multinational companies with implementing global trademark prosecution and enforcement strategies, and works across several industries including high tech companies, food and beverage brands, fashion labels, and entertainment. His extensive intellectual property experience and education abroad in Germany, Spain, Sweden, and India are the lens through which he counsels and teaches.

During his time working at the European Union Intellectual Property Office, he worked on trademark litigation before the EU Court of Justice and was instrumental in developing and drafting trademark examination guidelines. He is passionate about helping not only his clients, but students and other attorneys with their international aspirations. In his free time, he enjoys walks through San Francisco’s thousands of acres of park space with his family, practicing his German language skills, and fine tunes his sourdough bread recipe.
