The 2023 Law Review Symposium, titled The Future of Prosecution, brought together panels of distinguished experts to discuss the role of the prosecutor.

Speakers, including district attorneys from eight California counties, legal scholars, and an exoneree, considered questions about a prosecutor's obilgation to mitigating or addressing racial and socioeconomic inequity and ways to balance this obligation with community expectations of safety and retribution. Cook County State Attorney Kim Foxx delivered the keynote address and discussed whether there truly was a "racial reckoning" following the murder of George Floyd, as well as the evolution of a prosecutor's role in the post-Floyd era of criminal justice reform.
