USF Grants and Scholarships
The University of San Francisco offers awards from its own resources and generous donations from alumni and friends of the University. These awards are offered to full-time students to assist with the cost of tuition at USF. Unless aid is specifically identified otherwise, these awards apply to tuition-only for a maximum of 8 semesters and can only be used in Fall and Spring.
All merit and need-based aid requires Satisfactory Academic Progress and compliance with other University policies and the University code of conduct.
USF Academic Merit Award
Merit-based scholarships are determined at the time of admission; no separate application is required. Merit scholarships are awarded for academic performance, based on a student's SAT or ACT scores and USF-calculated GPA for high school coursework available at the time of admission. Students who apply test optional will be considered for merit scholarships based on their high school coursework and USF-calculated GPA. If you are awarded a merit-based scholarship, the scholarship will be included in any financial aid award. Once awarded, merit scholarship amounts cannot be adjusted or appealed.
Merit-based financial aid awards can be used for tuition only.
University Tuition Grants & Named Scholarships
Individual scholarships may be intended to benefit students pursuing a particular major or those who have achieved a specific GPA, but they all require a demonstrated financial need. In addition to the requirement of demonstrated need, these grants require a minimum admitted GPA that is determined after our review of the academic transcripts of the applicant pool.
New students interested in applying for the coming fall semester must file the FAFSA (or Dream Act Application) prior to the priority deadline.
All need based aid recipients are also required to file Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) annually. Students must file for Financial Aid before the University's priority filing deadlines to ensure the availability of funds.
