Biography
Michael J. Woo is a retired tax professional. He is an Attorney and CPA qualified to practice in California for over 40 years. Previously he was the Head of Tax and Tax Counsel at Bank of the West (U.S. subsidiary of BNPP, a global French Bank) and in various senior tax roles at Levi Strauss, Kendall Jackson and Deloitte. He recently finished a consultant position at Varo Bank N.A. as its Head of Tax.
Mike has served on several Professional and Nonprofit Boards and was a proud member of the Council on State Taxation (COST) Board. For over 20 years, he has taught multistate tax compliance at COST’s weeklong Basic Tax Conference for new staff of Fortune 500 companies and for the past 4 years is part of the Team that puts on the COST Year End Multistate Tax Provision webinar. He has published a number of tax articles (tax credits and best practices) and participated regularly on speaker panels at COST, Tax Executives, Inc (TEI) and other Professional Tax organizations. In retired life, he now serves as the short order cook at the whim of the WOO-LIM family and whichever child makes it back home to do their laundry.
