Craving a sweet treat after exploring Golden Gate Park? Exit the park near the Botanical Garden, and you’re a 5-minute walk to San Francisco’s Hometown Creamery. Co-founded by Adar Halil JD ’14, San Francisco’s Hometown Creamery offers locally sourced “farm to cone” ice cream.
North Beach
Original Joe’s
Trek up to Coit Tower, then enjoy a meal at Original Joe’s. Co-owners John Duggan ’63, Marie Duggan ’68, Elena Duggan ’95, and John A. Duggan ’96 have created and maintained a staple of San Francisco’s Italian-American heritage for generations. You may know them as a fan-favorite vendor at CelebrateUSF. Perhaps you’ve even sampled their famous Spicy Rigatoni during USF’s signature alumni and family weekend.

Garden Creamery
A sunny day in the Mission calls for a picnic at Dolores Park followed by a cold treat.
Coconut Pandan and Mexanilla Mango are a few of many unique ice cream and sorbet flavors created by Erin Lang ’09, owner of Garden Creamery, located off Valencia Street. Combining unique flavors and seasonal ingredients, Lang expresses San Francisco’s melting pot food scene in their ice cream flavors.
SoMa (South of Market)
Sextant Coffee Roasters
Sextant Coffee Roasters in the SoMa neighborhood was founded by Kinani Ahmed ’01. As a local cafe and roastery that works directly with farmers from Ethiopia, Kenya, and Colombia, Sextant brings coffees from around the world.

Harborview Restaurant & Bar
Nestled in a plaza, directly across the street from the Ferry Building, sits Harborview Restaurant & Bar. Co-owners Frank Wong ’02 and Karen Wong Liu MBA ’06 serve up handcrafted dim sum and seafood just steps from the water’s edge.
