by Annie Breen, USF News

The 167th Commencement ceremonies of the University of San Francisco will be Dec. 12 in St. Ignatius Church, with 737 students receiving degrees from the College of Arts and Sciences, the School of Management, and the School of Nursing and Health Professions.

San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie will give the College of Arts and Sciences commencement address to 234 undergraduate degree and 100 graduate degree recipients at their 6 p.m. ceremony. Lurie was elected in 2024 as the city’s first political newcomer — having never held a position in public office — to serve as mayor since 1911, and is the founder and former CEO of Tipping Point Community, an anti-poverty nonprofit.

Chinese Hospital CEO Jian Zhang, DNP, MS, FNP-BC, NEA-BC, FAAN, is the honorary degree recipient and commencement speaker for the School of Nursing and Health Professions commencement. Named as one of 2025’s “Most Influential Women in Bay Area Business” by the San Francisco Business Times, she will address the 148 undergraduate, 153 graduate, and 16 doctoral students earning degrees this fall. The SONHP ceremony begins at 12 p.m.

The School of Management commencement will be held at 3 p.m. with 59 undergraduate and 27 graduate students receiving degrees. Sheena Way, the Golden State Warriors’ vice president of content and programming, will give the commencement address.

The December 2025 graduates represent 32 states and Washington, D.C., and 28 countries, and 325 are the first in their families to graduate with university degrees.

All ceremonies will be streamed on USF's website and YouTube
