When he was a media studies student at USF, Nicholas Grayson spent at least four hours a day playing video games.

“Now I get paid to play,” he says. As social editor at Fanbyte, a games and culture publication, he manages social media, writes news and features, and cohosts the weekly “Fanwidth” podcast about gaming, culture, and social justice. Is there any culture in, say, Grand Theft Auto? “Absolutely,” says Grayson. “That game depicts a culture of crime and violence. In what ways does that culture differ from our own?”
