Register for Classes as a Visiting Student

You can register for classes through myUSF. Learn how to register for classes.

You may register for up to 18 units in both the fall and spring semesters, and 4 units in the intersession (winter) term. We recommend registering for no more than 8 units in the summer.

Adding/Dropping courses

The deadline to add classes varies by term. Please see the chart on ourĀ visiting students page for the last day to add classes. You can register for classes online up until this deadline.

The deadline to drop classes or withdraw and still receive a 100% tuition refund is listed below each course in the Schedule of Classes, as well as the academic calendar.

Course Prerequisites and Restrictions

Before you register for a course, you will need to request approval from the faculty member, department, or dean's office if:

  • The class is full
  • The class has a waitlist
  • There are prerequisites or restrictions for the course. You'll see any prerequisites or restrictions on the Detailed Class Information page when you click on a course name. You may be required to provide supporting documentation such as your transcript or syllabus from a course you've already taken.

To register for a class with any of these restrictions, please reach out to the department or faculty member for the course or the Office of the University Registrar at registrar@usfca.edu. Auditing a class

If you'd like, you can audit a class instead of receiving class credit or a grade. The same tuition charges apply for audited classes. You should check with the academic department for the courses you are interested in to make sure that auditing is allowed for that specific class.
