The University of San Francisco to Confer Degrees Upon 950 Graduates at In-Person Winter Commencement Ceremonies

The first in-person ceremonies in two years will take place on December 17

SAN FRANCISCO (December 16, 2021) — The University of San Francisco (USF) will hold its first in-person commencement ceremonies in two years on Friday, December 17 at St. Ignatius Church on the USF campus. The 2021 winter graduates include 446 undergraduate students, 453 graduate students, and 51 doctoral students.

“I'm thrilled that the USF community will gather in person to celebrate the achievements of this diverse group of talented and resilient students,” said USF Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs Chinyere Oparah. “They have faced once-in-a-generation obstacles to complete their education. They are persistent, passionate and prepared to shape a more just and humane world."

Members of this graduating class hail from 28 countries around the globe, and from 36 states and U.S. Territories. Continuing USF’s commitment to access, 304 of the graduating students are first-generation college students. Nursing, psychology, marketing, computer science, and management are among the top majors of this distinguished USF class. These graduates will join more than 117,000 USF alumni around the world.

“Looking back on my time at USF, I’m most proud of the way I’ve been able to lean on our school to help me apply my learning outside of the classroom,” stated School of Marketing Valedictorian Claire Jacobs ‘21. “I felt like the ‘do’ was just as important as the ‘know’ at USF. To me, this diploma is a symbol of learning that goes beyond the classroom and into the community.”
