USF has the highest graduation rate among NCAA Division 1 institutions, tied with Yale, Cornell, Marquette, Northwestern, and Notre Dame for the top ranking.

The NCAA reported that the Dons have a Graduation Success Rate (GSR) of 99 percent, based on findings from November for the cohort of student-athletes who entered college in 2018. The NCAA measures graduation rates over six years.

Nine teams at USF achieved a perfect 100 percent GSR in the most recent report: baseball, women’s basketball, men’s basketball, women’s golf, men’s golf, men’s soccer, women’s cross country, men’s cross country, and women’s volleyball.

USF Athletics works closely with the Center for Academic and Student Achievement, which has three academic success coaches who work with student-athletes to ensure success in the classroom, said Michael Cosgrove, USF’s associate athletic director.

In addition, the men’s and women’s basketball teams and other student-athletes participate in a study hall and have regular check-ins with the academic support director for athletics.

“We are so proud of the student-athletes and the system we have in place to support them,” said Stephanie E. Shrieve-Hawkins, interim director of athletics.
