Dr. Charles T. Moses Appointed Dean of the University of San Francisco School of Management

SAN FRANCISCO (June 11, 2020) – The University of San Francisco (USF) has announced that distinguished higher education executive Dr. Charles T. Moses has been appointed to the role of dean of the School of Management (SOM). Dean Moses joined USF in July 2019 as the interim dean of the School of Management.

“I am very pleased that Dean Moses has agreed to continue to provide collaborative and stable leadership for the School of Management,” said Tyrone H. Cannon, USF interim provost and vice president for academic affairs. “Dean Moses has demonstrated strong collegiality with his colleagues on the university's Leadership Team and we have certainly benefited from his thoughtfulness and enthusiasm.” 

During his time as the School of Management interim dean, Dr. Moses began work on the fall 2020 launch of two new academic programs, an undergraduate business analytics program and a graduate marketing intelligence program, and collaborated closely with SOM leadership to promote a culture of transparency and teamwork. He is also spearheading SOM’s business reaccreditation initiative with the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, and the Network of Schools of Public Policy, Affairs, and Administration. He has also worked closely with SOM leadership to promote a culture of transparency and teamwork. 

“Like all university business schools, the University of San Francisco’s School of Management is charged with keeping ahead of the pace of change in business,” said Dean Moses. “We are addressing this by developing our agility and our approaches to becoming the preferred educational provider for learners over the course of their lives.”

Dr. Moses’s academic experience includes business deanships at Austin Peay State University and Clark Atlanta University, as well as the University of Limpopo (Edupark) in South Africa. He was also formerly the director of the Accelerated Management Program at Stillman College in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. In addition, he served as a cabinet level advisor to the late New York Gov. Mario Cuomo, and was an award-winning business reporter and editor with Newsday in New York City. 

Dean Moses holds a bachelor of science degree in Psychology from Howard University; an MBA in Management from Baruch College; and a Doctorate in Management (Mandel Fellow) from Case Western Reserve University’s Weatherhead School of Management. He also served as a Fulbright Fellow at the University of the West Indies. He has served on boards and advisory councils, including the National Issues Forum Institute, Special Olympics New Jersey (Governance Committee) and the Fulbright Association Georgia Chapter.
