USF Recognized Again for Supporting Transfer Students

USF was honored this summer by the Phi Theta Kappa student organization for providing a good experience for transfer students who come to the university.

The honor society for two-year colleges named more than 250 colleges and universities — including USF — to its 2026 Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Transfer Honor Roll. The recognition is based on how schools support transfer students, including cost and financial aid, campus life, admission practices, and undergraduate degree completion rates.

USF has been named to the PTK honor roll each year since 2020. This fall, 305 transfer students are coming to USF, the biggest class in four years.

Phi Theta Kappa considered these factors:

  • USF’s 11:1 student-to-faculty ratio.
  • Students have both a faculty adviser and an academic success coach at USF.
  • Financial support and scholarships for transfer students include merit scholarships, a Phi Theta Kappa scholarship, and a community college partnership scholarship.
  • Campus events for transfer students, such as information sessions, Explore USF Transfer Day, and Meet USF Transfer Day.

Transfer students make up 21 percent of the undergraduate population at USF, which offers a $4,000 annual scholarship to students transferring from select community colleges.

“I chose USF for the student-to-faculty ratio — [it’s] smaller than normal college classrooms,” said CJ Dizon ’28, a nursing major who transferred to USF. “This makes the communication, assistance, and student-faculty bond stronger.”
