Honigsberg's Guantanamo Truth Commission
While other suggestions for truth commissions have focused primarily on congressional investigations of the Bush administration, Honigsberg is interested in reaching out to former Guantanamo detainees—"men who were imprisoned, inhumanely treated, sensory deprived, and tortured."
The Guantanamo Truth Commission plans to publish its findings, offer recommendations, and archive interviews and data. The commission hopes that the gathered information will be used by the new administration and future historians, lessening the likelihood of similar atrocities being committed in the future.
