Sociological Imagination in Action
Photo of Thomas Becker
USF's Department of Sociology is honored to welcome distinguished alumnus Thomas Becker — human rights attorney, author, and accomplished musician. As chief counsel in Mamani v. Sánchez de Lozada, Thomas secured the first U.S. court ruling holding a living former head of state liable for human rights abuses. His global advocacy has included documenting war crimes with Human Rights Watch and serving as a legal observer on the Gaza Freedom Flotilla. He is the co-author of “Coup: A Story of Violence and Resistance in Bolivia,” and currently serves as a Lecturer in Law at Columbia Law School.
Join us for a conversation about justice, courage, and what it means to show up for your values.
