"Exploring New Horizons with the Canary Global Foundation"

From the search for life beyond Earth to the shape of moon rocks, the Canary Global Foundation connects fundamental physics with new technologies and international collaboration. In this talk, I will introduce several projects we are involved in, including exoplanet research, AI-powered observatories, and asteroid modeling. Along the way, I will explore how these efforts bring together theory, computation, and observation, and how students can participate in the science shaping our exploration of the universe.

Marcelo Camperi is a professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy and former Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at USF. He studied physics at the Universidad Nacional de La Plata in Argentina, and earned his PhD in Theoretical and Mathematical Physics at Boston University, working on topological field theory. His research has spanned computational physics and the study of the brain through the lens of physics. His current interests focus on exoplanets and the search for life beyond Earth.
