The program follows a cohort model, where Honors Program students take eight courses together in sequence. At the end of their coursework, students create a new venture capstone project and compete in an elevator pitch competition their senior year. The Honors Program also provides students with increased opportunities to network with corporations and honors alumni, global immersion experiences, and opportunities for job placement.

The eight required courses for the program are upper-division business courses required for all business students. Honors students take these courses with their cohort. Below is a sample course sequence.

Student Activities

  • Student-led retreats
  • Company tours (previous sites include, Facebook, Pinterest, Avaya, and Autodesk)
  • Alumni networking events / Alumni reunions
  • Professional development workshops & service activities
  • Cohort bonding and socials

The honors program has elevated my confidence in networking. I’ve learned networking is about relationships — it’s an exchange of learnings. The opportunities to interact with alumni has allowed me to lead conversations with less doubt and anxiety. As a future marketer, it’s important to learn in an environment that encourages growth and change because both lead to creativity, which SOM HP offers."
