Biography

Steven Mayorga has a wealth of experience encompassing areas of banking, credit ratings, entrepreneurship, public accounting, public finance, private equity, and venture capital. He successfully founded and operated one of the largest companies in Eastern Washington, eventually selling it and making a career switch to academia. His previous experience also includes auditing private equity and venture capital firms at Ernst & Young, performing valuations at a middle-market investment bank, and operating a seasonal tax practice. Steven has passed all four CPA exams and is also in the process of becoming a CFA charterholder. In addition to teaching, Steven currently works full-time at Moody's Investors Service where he assesses the credit quality of bonds issued by municipalities and not-for-profit healthcare systems.

By leveraging his diverse background, Steven strives to bridge the gap between theory and practice to provide his students with a well-rounded classroom learning experience. He is also an avid snowboarder and enjoys spending his free time in Lake Tahoe.
