Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages with Credential, MA

The USF MA in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) will prepare you to support students who are learning English as a second language (ESL), teach ESL across K-12 and community college settings, and learn to design curriculum. And by adding a teaching credential to your TESOL master's degree, you'll open doors to increased earning and employment opportunities worldwide.

Still Accepting for Spring

Our Fall Priority deadline is March 1.

Why Should I Get a Teaching Credential at USF?

  • Curriculum is designed to integrate academic coursework with field experience.
  • Programs prepare graduates to assume leadership roles in both public and private schools.
  • Students work closely with the teacher education faculty, who are committed to social justice and community.
  • Our classes are small compared with other teacher education programs. Completion of the teaching credential and Master of Arts in Teaching is typically 4 to 5 semesters. Students enrolled in our other master's programs will need more time to complete all requirements.

Become a Teacher Resident

Teach alongside an experienced mentor teacher for a year in the Jefferson Elementary School District (JESD) while completing coursework toward your California Teaching Credential. You'll receive financial support to help cover the cost of tuition and hiring priority in JESD.
