Teacher Residency Programs
Our teacher residency programs are designed to remove barriers to becoming a teacher by allowing candidates to earn while they learn. Residents work alongside an experienced mentor teacher while completing credential coursework at USF that is intentionally integrated with daily classroom practice. Through this residency model, candidates are not only learning to teach, but becoming part of a broader effort to build a more inclusive, representative, and responsive educator workforce.
Jefferson Elementary School District Teacher Residency
The University of San Francisco (USF) and Jefferson Elementary School District (JESD) Teacher Residency Program is a community-centered pathway into teaching designed to prepare educators who are deeply committed to their students, their schools, and the communities they serve.
San Francisco Urban Teacher Residency — Bilingual Authorization Pathway
The University of San Francisco partners with the San Francisco Urban Teacher Residency (SFUTR) to offer a specialized residency pathway for candidates pursuing the Bilingual Authorization (BILA). This program is designed to prepare teachers to serve multilingual learners in San Francisco’s diverse urban schools through a yearlong, immersive clinical experience.
