As part of the Yang research group, Andy Tran (‘24) investigates how bacteria can transport molecules across the cell membrane. Here he injects his protein sample into the FPLC system for purification and analysis.
As a member of the Nikolayevskiy research group, Clifford Leung (‘24) examines the mechanisms and kinetics of key reactions in the synthesis of new antimicrobial compounds using the 500MHZ NMR.
Keana Davis (‘24) prepares a sample for an experiment using the isothermal titration calorimeter. As part of the Stevenson research lab, Keana is studying antimicrobial peptides as an alternative to traditional antibiotics.
Hermes Ruiz (‘25) works in the glove box to analyze methane production in soil collected from wildfire sites. As part of the Bhattacharyya research group, he studies the effects of wildfire on soil chemistry in the Northern California chaparral ecosystem.
Ryan Luu (‘24) analyzes the concentration of various compounds on the UV-Vis-NIR spectrophotometer. As part of the Bhattacharyya research group, Ryan studies biochars as an eco-friendly material to remove contaminants from wastewater.
