Accreditation Unanimously Renewed By CTC

The Committee of Accreditation, on behalf of the Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC), voted unanimously to renew University of San Francisco’s School of Education status of full accreditation.

The CTC sets the standard for educator preparation programs for California PK-12 schools. We were awarded accreditation for the next seven years, the longest renewal period available. We will continue to offer all of its credential programs and may propose new programs as well.

The Culmination of Years of Work

The success of this accreditation visit reflects the commitment of our community to advancing justice through education. It is the culmination of years of work by the our CTC Committee members, staff, faculty, and students. An accreditation review requires extensive evidence collection and written reporting, which is then verified during a site visit. We were proud to host a team of seven peer reviewers from institutions around California March 26 - 29, 2023. During the site visit, 275 of our community members including students, faculty, staff, alumni, and alumni employers engaged in interviews with CTC Peer Reviewers. The site visit was a joyous occasion to celebrate the excellence and impact of the School of Education community.

Community, Justice, and Care

In the final report, the site visit team shared that three words resounded throughout all their interviews, “community, justice, and care.” They stated, “It is inspirational to see the shared experience of students, faculty, staff, and K-12 partners across multiple programs exemplify a school’s mission statement.” They also offered commendations to Dean Koirala Azad and her leadership team, stating, “There is a clear ongoing critical inquiry process that is uniquely humanistic and a result of the school’s transformative leadership. Evidence of the ongoing positive impact the school is having on preparing California educators and education professionals is clear.”
