USF & Presidio Hill School Teacher Apprentice Program

The USF & Presidio Hill School Teacher Apprentice Program, a partnership between the University of San Francisco School of Education and Presidio Hill School, seeks to prepare highly-effective teachers that inspire student curiosity, critical thinking and cooperative learning.

Students accepted to the USF & Presidio Hill School Teacher Apprentice Program complete a two-year teaching apprenticeship with a master teacher at Presidio Hill School while earning a master's degree and California teaching credential from the USF School of Education. Apprentices work with their master teacher at Presidio Hill School for the full school week and attend graduate courses at USF in the evening. Additionally, apprentices will complete a short student teaching placement in a public school classroom. Apprentices receive a $25,000 per year stipend and ongoing classroom support.

Criteria

  • Candidates must apply & be accepted to both the USF Teaching MA program on the USF Hilltop campus and the USF & Presidio Hill School Teacher Apprentice Program.
  • Program open to Multiple Subject credential candidates on the Hilltop campus only.
  • Candidates must have a deep interest in learning the practices of progressive education.
  • Students participating in the Urban Education and Social Justice program or the Bilingual Authorization program are ineligible to participate in the USF & Presidio Hill School Teacher Apprentice Program. 

The next USF & Presidio Hill Teacher Apprentice Program cohort will begin Fall 2024. Release of Confidential Student Record Information
In accordance with the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (as amended), the University of San Francisco does not release a student’s educational record information without the written consent of the student, except to certain categories of persons specifically exempted by the law. The USF & Presidio Hill School Teacher Apprentice Program is jointly administered by the University of San Francisco and the Presidio Hill School of San Francisco. Officials from these organizations are involved in all phases of the USF & Presidio Hill School Teacher Apprentice Program.

This release must be submitted with the application to the USF & Presidio Hill School Teacher Apprentice Program and must remain in effect for the duration of the student’s participation in the program.

I authorize the University of San Francisco to release my application and application materials, admissions file, grades, courses taken, academic process, advising information, probation, suspension or dismissal status. This will be in force for the duration of my enrollment in the USF & Presidio Hill School Teacher Apprentice Program.

The purpose of this release is to permit the Presidio Hill School to evaluate me as a candidate for the USF & Presidio Hill School Teacher Apprentice Program and to track my academic progress through the Program.
