Biography
Conor Smith received his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (PsyD) from the University of San Francisco and completed his clinical residency and internship at the San Francisco V.A. Health Care System. He previously trained at the Santa Clara Valley Medical Center and Queer Lifespace, where he worked extensively with the LGBTQ+ community. His primary clinical and research interests involve addressing the healthcare needs of LGBTQ+ people and other marginalized communities through improving their healthcare experiences. His dissertation involved the development of a valid and reliable measure of minority stress experiences encountered by LGBTQ+ people in the healthcare system. He has also conducted research on how environmental factors such as housing status in the transgender community might impact their physical and mental health outcomes, and most recently is conducting research on the healthcare experiences of people who engage in kink/BDSM.
