We Welcome Rosalind de Lisser, PhD, PMHNP-BC, FNP-BC, to USF SONHP

With over 25 years of experience in advanced practice nursing, psychiatric and addiction care, nursing education, academic leadership, and health workforce research, I look forward to contributing to this academic environment. I am especially drawn to USF’s commitment to social justice and community engagement, and I welcome the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues and students in San Francisco, a city known for its diversity, innovation, and advocacy.

As a psychiatric-mental health and family nurse practitioner, I have integrated clinical practice, education, and workforce development throughout my career. I remain actively involved in patient care as Lead for Psychiatry and Addiction Treatment in the UCSF Women’s HIV Program, providing trauma-informed, integrated behavioral health care for women with complex needs. I am committed to involving students in research and practice experiences and supporting their growth as innovative contributors to healthcare.

With over twenty years of experience in nursing education, I will teach and contribute to courses in the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program at USF, including Advanced Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing, Integrated Behavioral Health Care, and Population Health. I will also support the Family Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner tracks and help develop new programs to meet community needs. My background includes curriculum design and evaluation, competency-based education, interprofessional learning, faculty development, and program leadership. I have led curricular redesigns, expanded psychiatric training, and developed educational pathways to address California’s behavioral health workforce needs. I have also contributed to postgraduate training and residency programs that prepare clinicians for practice in complex and underserved settings.

My scholarship centers on health workforce development and well-being, including nurse practitioner burnout, clinician psychological safety, behavioral health workforce capacity, and the alignment of education, practice, and policy. My methodological expertise includes quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods research, as well as program and workforce evaluation. I collaborate on workforce initiatives through UCSF’s Institute for Health Policy Studies–Healthforce Center and integrate current workforce research and policy into my teaching. I invite students and collaborators to join me in research and workforce development projects to advance health workforce scholarship and impact.

I believe students learn best when evidence, clinical reasoning, leadership, and real-world patient care are integrated. At USF, I look forward to contributing to DNP and advanced practice education, mentoring future nurse leaders, and preparing clinicians to deliver excellent care and improve healthcare systems. I am eager to connect with the USF community and collaborate to advance nursing and healthcare.
