Biography

Sofia V. Gonzalez is an artist and educator living and working in Sonoma County, California. Her work has been exhibited throughout the United States including California, the Midwest and the South. Recent awards include an Individual Artist Fellowship for her work in Contemporary Craft from the Arkansas Arts Council.

Since 2014, Sofia has taught natural dye workshops that invite the public to learn how to make dye from waste materials and local plants. Sofia has taught as an Adjunct Professor at various universities throughout Arkansas and San Diego, CA. Returning to the Bay Area in 2022, this is her first-year teaching at the University of San Francisco.
