Oliver Zhao

Biography
Oliver Zhao, MD, is a physician-educator whose personal and professional journey spans the United States, the United Kingdom, and China. Dr. Zhao is committed to providing primary care for diverse patient populations, with particular attention to socioeconomically marginalized and sociopolitically excluded communities. Guided by a bio-psycho-social framework, his research focuses on health justice, including immigrant health, LGBTQ+ health, and innovation in medical education.
As an educator, Dr. Zhao’s teaching experience spans students from childhood through medical school. Since 2020, he has been part of the Inclusive Anatomical Representation project at Harvard, a pioneering initiative that examines structural bias in medical textbooks and atlases and develops inclusive educational materials addressing racism, sexism, ageism, colonialism, and other forms of exclusion. In addition, Dr. Zhao serves on the Pre-Health Professions Advising Team, supporting USF students as they pursue careers in the health professions.
