Biography

Dr. Marjorie Barter is Professor Emerita, Healthcare Systems Leadership at the University of San Francisco. She is certified in Executive Nursing Practice (CENP) and Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) and is a nationally recognized nursing leader. She was Department Chair for graduate courses for twelve years and implemented several programs: the master's entry program for Healthcare Systems Leadership, the Clinical Nurse Leader program and the DNP programs in Healthcare Systems Leadership and Executive Leadership. She was the PI for the $1.34 million grant for the design and implementation of the Clinical Nurse Leaders program at USF.

Dr. Barter served on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Nursing Administration from 1992-2012 and has been a manuscript reviewer for several professional journals. She has published numerous articles in professional journals. Her areas of interest are strategic leadership, innovation, risk management, and quality / process improvement. She currently services as the Program Director for the Executive Leadership DNP.
