Biography
Jim Guthrie is a part-time professor in the University of San Francisco’s Sport Management program teaching Managing Sport in a Dynamic Environment and Sports Business Analytics. He is a marketing, strategy and partnerships executive with more than 20 years of experience across sports, entertainment, media, and technology. He spent more than 11 years at Wasserman, most recently serving as Associate Vice President, Global Partnerships, Brands & Properties, where he advised brands and rightsholders on sponsorship strategy, valuation, activation, and measurement. His work included partnerships involving organizations such as American Express, Target, Microsoft, Ticketmaster, AEG, Topgolf, and the Golden State Warriors.
Prior to Wasserman, Jim worked in Distribution Strategy & Planning at Walt Disney Studios, where he focused on business strategy, emerging technologies, digital distribution, and long-range planning initiatives. In addition to teaching at USF, he advises sports and technology organizations on growth strategy, market analysis, and go-to-market planning.
