Biography

Jasmin Darznik is the author of the New York Times bestseller The Good Daughter: A Memoir of My Mother's Hidden Life and the novel​ Song of a Captive Bird, forthcoming from Random​ ​House. Her essays have appeared in the New York Times, Washington Post, and Los Angeles Times and her honors include prizes and residencies from the San Francisco Foundation, Steinbeck Fellows Program, Iowa Review, Zoetrope: All-Story, Virginia Foundation for the Humanities, and the Corporation of Yaddo. She has taught at University of Virginia, Washington and Lee University, and California College of the Arts. In 2013, she was awarded an Outstanding Faculty Award, the highest honor for faculty at Virginia's public and private colleges and universities.
