Biography

Dr. Thomas Kurtz has a diverse career as an educator, researcher, arts administrator, and performer, dedicated to promoting equity-driven initiatives in the arts. His research explores how music and performance served as catalysts for social justice during major social movements. His cultural management experience includes curating and producing numerous events in partnership with organizations like the National AIDS Memorial, the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra, and the GLBT Historical Society. As a saxophonist, Thomas collaborates with composers, performs new music across the Bay Area, and recently appeared as a soloist at Carnegie Hall.
