Financing Your Education

MA Asia Pacific Studies Specific Financial Aid

  • Scholarships, Fellowships, and Assistantships
All applicants are considered for a limited number of partial tuition scholarships at the time of admission review. In addition, the program offers a number of second-year fellowships. While enrolled in the program, students may also apply for teaching assistantships and research assistantships.

  • NSEP Fellowships
It is recommended that applicants to the MAPS program apply for one of the National Security Education Program (NSEP) Fellowships sponsored by the U.S. Federal government. A significant number of MAPS students have been awarded NSEP fellowships to date, giving USF a high national ranking in number of such fellowships received.

  • McLaren Research Fellowships
Students who apply to the MAPS/MBA joint program may apply for McLaren Research Fellowships, which offer a 50 percent tuition scholarship and an annual stipend.

  • Employer Assistance
Certain employers in the San Francisco Bay Area offer employee tuition reimbursement, and some MAPS students have received such employer assistance. Please check with your human resources representative to learn if your employer offers a tuition reimbursement plan. USF can accommodate certain requirements, such as grade submission, of employer plans.
