Financing Options

FAFSA & Federal Aid Eligibility

Effective July 1, 2026, the national Grad PLUS Loan Program will end for new borrowers. Existing borrowers who received a Grad PLUS Loan prior to this date for their current graduate program can continue borrowing for up to three additional years or until their program concludes, whichever comes first.

Accepted students may be eligible for federal grants, federal loans, and/or private education loans.

You should apply for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for each year you intend to be a USF student. Visit studentaid.gov to learn more about eligibility and aid options. The University of San Francisco’s FAFSA school code is: 001325.

Note on tax information: You will need to have your most recent tax information to properly file. The FAFSA IRS Data Retrieval Tool (DRT) can be helpful in populating the most accurate tax return information and maintaining data privacy.

Private loans, also known as alternative loans, are available through various lenders. These loans are designed to assist students and their families who need additional financing for educational expenses and may not be eligible for federal grants or federal loan funds.

Loan approval and fixed/variable interest rates can vary based on credit score, income, and co-signer finances. Applicants with co-signers generally receive more favorable interest rates and higher approval rates.

We strongly advise carefully comparing the differences between private and federal loans as well as all repayment obligations.

Repayment Support

USF partners with Student Connections to help you understand your loan commitments and address any issues you may have during repayment. Learn more on the Student Connections website or call a borrower advocate for free at (866) 311-9450. They’ll help you understand your loan obligations, figure out a repayment plan, and explore repayment options during financial hardships.

USF proudly commits funds to the Yellow Ribbon Program. There are limited openings in each school for Yellow Ribbon Awards, as federal law states that Yellow Ribbon awards must be made on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Applicants will be placed on the waitlist based on the date they submit a Certificate of Eligibility (COE) and DD-214 to the Registrar’s office. Yellow Ribbon may only be applied after the Post-9/11 (Chapter 33) cap has been met.

The sum total of the Post-9/11 (Chapter 33) benefit and Yellow Ribbon scholarship may not exceed the cost of tuition and fees. The Graduate School of Management provides Yellow Ribbon awards to a maximum of 65 students. The maximum USF and VA contributions (per student) are $13,625 each.

Employer Tuition Reimbursement

Many employers also offer their own tuition assistance, and you may have access to educational benefits or a professional development fund. To explore your options, we encourage you to speak with your employer about using workplace benefits to fund your degree.

AllCampus Workplace Network Discount

The AllCampus Workplace Network offers exclusive tuition reductions and scholarships to support working professionals. Through USF’s partnership with AllCampus, eligible employees of participating organizations receive a 10 percent tuition discount.

Our enrollment specialists are here to help you understand if a discount is available. To learn more, email an enrollment specialist at managementonline@usfca.edu or call (813) 590-1402.

Payment Options

For complete payment plan information, visit the myUSF website.

The payment plan provides a convenient means for paying tuition and fees through regularly scheduled payments.

USF expects that students will either enroll in the semester payment plan or make a full payment for all charges by the payment due date for each term. If payment is not received or if you have not enrolled in the payment plan by the due date, your course registration may be canceled.

You can enroll in the semester payment plan online and set up automatic payments. The semester payment plan is available for the fall, spring, and summer semesters.

Eligibility and Cost to Participate

There is a $50 enrollment fee to use the plan each semester. To qualify, you must have a minimum balance of $2,250, as required by California law. You can make installment payments using e-check, paper checks, or international payments through Flywire.

  • Spring 2026: Enrollment is open from December 2 through February 23. Installment payments are due on the 5th in January, February, March, April.
