Course Description:

This course focuses on students’ development of the writing process through the exploration of cooking and preparing meals from around the world. Students will develop reading and writing comprehension skills through reviewing and creating their own recipes. Attention is paid to reading and oral communication skills, specifically gaining meaning from context. Emphasis is placed on the writing process, with students completing narrative and instructional essays. Students move from writing well-organized paragraphs with topic sentences and supporting details to well-organized essays. Readings are from a variety of resources such as media, guest speakers, and academic selections that form the basis of student writing.
