Graduate Student Senate
The Graduate Student Senate (GSS) was created to represent, lead, and unify the Associated Graduate Students of the University of San Francisco, to achieve the betterment of the students in their professional and social interests, and to promote the coordination of activities and events for the graduate student population.
The GSS is committed to encouraging involvement with the University of San Francisco and to the advancement of graduate studies. In keeping with the Jesuit mission of the university, the GSS supports the development of the whole person (cura personalis) by offering opportunities, services, and events that empower graduate students to become caring, socially-responsible leaders for the future.
Our external affairs, finance, internal affairs, and mission committees provide graduate students with opportunities to be involved in decision making and gain experience in event planning, finance, policy, social justice initiatives, and more. All committees meet monthly on Monday evenings.
The GSS provides a variety of funding opportunities for graduate students, including:
- Initiative funding: Students wishing to pursue professional development opportunities — such as conference registration and conference travel — can be awarded up to $400 per semester.
- Student leadership awards: Each award comes with $1,000.
- Student organizations: Graduate student organizations are eligible to apply for event funding and internal development funding.
