Eligibility and Enrollment into ROTC

Scholarship Eligibility

Students interested in enrolling in ROTC and qualifying for a scholarship must:

  • Be a U.S. citizen.
  • Be between the ages of 17 and under 31 years of age in the calendar year in which you are to be commissioned.
  • Have a high school GPA of at least 2.50; a college GPA of at least a 2.70.
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent. Hold a regionally accredited college degree if applying as a Graduate student.
  • Score a minimum of 920 combined SAT score (math/verbal) or 19 on the ACT composite score (excluding the required writing test scores).
  • Meet physical standards: Army Physical Fitness Test minimum standards at the time of contracting.
  • Agree to accept a commission and serve in the Army on Active Duty or in a Reserve Component (Army Reserve or Army National Guard).

Non-Scholarship Eligibility

Students interested in enrolling in ROTC and not pursuing a scholarship must:

  • Be a U.S. citizen.
  • Be between the ages of 17 and under 34 years of age in the calendar year in which you are to be commissioned. Waivers are required for applicants between 34-39 years old at the time of the projected commissioning date (past 39 years old is non-waiverable).
  • Have a high school GPA of at least 2.50; a college GPA of at least a 2.70.
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent. Hold a regionally accredited college degree if applying as a Graduate student.
  • Score a minimum of 920 combined SAT score (math/verbal) or 19 on the ACT composite score (excluding the required writing test scores).
  • Meet physical standards: Army Physical Fitness Test minimum standards at the time of contracting.
  • Agree to accept a commission and serve in the Army on Active Duty or in a Reserve Component (Army Reserve or Army National Guard).

Additional Eligibility Requirements

  • All prospective Cadets must be Department of Defense Medical Examination Review Board (DODMERB) qualified or waived at the time of contracting.
  • There cannot be any waivers pending at the time of contracting.

Enrollment into ROTC

All students that are enrolled full time in college (including junior college) can enroll in the lower division ROTC courses (Military Science 100 and 200 levels). The classes count as elective credit towarda student’s general credits needed to graduate. Interested students should contact the Recruiting Operations Officer in order to receive assistance in enrolling for the classes.

Visiting students are required to have their MMR shot record available as this is a requirement for the University of San Francisco. Visiting students will need to fill out enrollment forms at the ROTC programs office.
