Spring 2021 Commencement
The University of San Francisco will celebrate spring graduates with virtual commencement ceremonies.
We invite the whole community — students, family, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends of the university — to attend from all over the country and all over the world.
About the Virtual Commencement
While we wish we could celebrate our graduates with traditional ceremonies in St. Ignatius Church, our decision to host commencement virtually is based on community health and safety, local public health guidance, and the need to provide graduates with a timely decision to allow them to plan accordingly. USF’s decision aligns with other universities in San Francisco, including San Francisco State University, UC San Francisco, and UC Hastings.
USF is committed to demonstrating its leadership as a good citizen by adhering to local public health regulations to quell the spread of COVID-19. Our decision takes into account San Francisco Department of Public Health restrictions on large events as well as local, state, and national travel and quarantine guidelines. With our graduates living across the country and around the world, the safest and most equitable choice is to celebrate together virtually.
All graduates whose commencement ceremonies are virtual will be invited to a future in-person ceremony at a later time.
