To the MFT Program at the University of San Francisco, Sacramento campus, it's a three year program. Eight Semesters, cohort model and it does prepare you towards the licensure path. A big part of what really drew me to the program, to be honest, was my interview. The questions that were asked were very culturally inclusive, they were very diverse, and they really challenged me and made think about my interpersonal process. As well as any biases that I might have, my cultural backgrounds, my cultural values, and how I can use those strengths to serve future clients. Professors here, and lecturers, they come from a lot of different areas of mental health and we get a lot of different unique perspectives because of that. I think it's really cool, it's immersive. It's so important to get professors that really have worked in the field and know wha the cutting edge of the field is. It's always changing. The students are spending time in the classroom not only apply reading and concepts that they've learned, but also engaging in real-life role plays and direct application in the classroom so that they can build their comfort level and experience levels so that, when at the end, their last year, they're applying it in real life settings. I think Sacramento was so special because of the diversity here. There are so many different agencies that you can work at. I mean, we're right down the street from the capital, which is great. So if you wanted to get involved in legislation, social justice, you'd have the opportunity to do that. If you wanted to work in community-based settings, you have the opportunity to do that. If you ever wanted to private practice, I think Sacramento highlights that community aspect so well. It's been a really great opportunity, and I think that this campus is very tight-knit and I've never gone a day here without knowing that I'm supported academically and just as a person. I feel like a well-rounded, culturally inclusive, and culturally relevant counselor. I truly believe that I have a different worldview than I did when I came in here.
