Speaker 1: EOPA, to my mind, is a truly unique organization. I’ve been in the climate philanthropy space for almost 20 years, and the attention to every individual person that comes in—as a prospective leader, newly elected, or recently elected—is remarkable. They empower them, giving them the tools to become better speakers and better presenters. These are core skills that no one teaches anywhere. I feel like this is pretty indispensable. Speaker 2: I was able to learn from so many professionals from all over the world. They taught me about different things, such as emotional intelligence and effective communication. [Music] Speaker 3: Make those connections—and keep them—because you’re going to find them quite helpful. I had interactions with elected officials with long, storied careers. I could speak with them, learn from them, and together we could take these materials and come up with new policy ideas. Speaker 4: There’s this excitement that we really can make a difference. It’s about bringing people together to try and solve problems, and to be the best elected official you can possibly be—to represent your community.
