Text framing the artwork: The United States is grappling with a pandemic that has killed way over a 100,000 people and plunged the economy into a devastating downturn. Yes, most African Americans are not just dealing with a pandemic and dying from it at a higher rate than whites, we’re also dealing with an epidemic that has plagued us for centuries, called injustice. The Memorial Day death of George Floyd was a betrayal of the highest order. I felt like I just got dumped back into the 1800’s. Like 99.9% of Blacks in America…I was angry as hell!!! This started massive protests from Minneapolis to Paris, France, which happens to be the capitol of “La Manifestation,” which means “Power to Protest.” High officials and state actors tried to quell the protests by coming up with 3 rd degree murder charges for Derek Chauvin, that’s when rioters and looters stepped in. Prosecutors tried to pull the wool over our eyes, but Generation Z wasn’t going for it. Back in 1992, the criminal justice system allowed all 3 corrupt officers to walk free, and that’s what kicked off the L.A. Riots…not the night of the Rodney King beating. Generation Z is way smarter than my Generation X, they saw the old switcheroo coming. Generation Z refused to listen to the two-system flimflammery. Even as I write this, the power structures are trying to control the narrative, subtly shifting words and attention from the criminal and racist prosecutors, who always side with cops. Pay attention to the supposedly all- knowing media, who continue to talk about rioters and looting to sway viewers from the real cause of those actions. Protestors didn’t start this. Keep in mind, looting is looting, prtesting is protesting. People are protesting because they refuse to fall under those old promises of white dastardly Machiavellian schemers. They are protesting the death of Mr. Arbery and the actions of Aimee Cooper in Central Park and the no-knock warrants. Yes, I favor disruption, not looting and never ever violence. Violence comes with the addition of a hostile police force. They are not there for de-escalation. We must control the narrative, keep focus on the racist injustice system. It’s bigger than just Mr. Floyd, for we are all George Floyd and face institutional racism. This is about human rights. Text from the image (a group of protestors holding signs): Central figure: Don’t allow the mainstream media outlets to control our narrative. We are protesting the entire justice system. Others, left to right: We are all George Floyd, “Say it” Can’t breathe Imbalance of justice Prosecutors need to be held accountable Free O. Smith Trump is a criminal and a hater Cops and Klan go Hand and hand NWA Prison is a $ hustle Respect our existence or expect our resistance FTP America is one country, 2 systems De-fund the police Joe Biden is just as … Breonna Taylor RIP Rioters are the voices of the unheard Police is not your friends It’s not time to heal, it’s time to fix the justice system Antifa I hope I don’t get killed today for being black Human Rights
