a lot of people say that in law school you learn all the law and you learn the letter of the law this is one of the only programs that truly helps you prepare to be in court the goal of the program is learning by doing not learning by sitting the intensive advocacy program is a two-week trial aid program we have workshops for direct examination for cross-examination opening statements closing arguments jury selection and they have two full trials they said look this is going to be very hard you're going to do a lot of things wrong but these are all things that most lawyers do wrong and most lawyers aren't able to grasp the first time the students perform they get immediate feedback they get to do another performance and they incorporate that feedback just the sheer number of attorneys that they bring in as faculty you are able to get so many different perspectives and so many different little tips and tricks of the trade these are people who become USF students mentors and teachers some of them will become their employers we hope and that it helps to bring the students and the legal community into the same forum it's a course that should be given and taken by all lawyers whether you want to do trial work through appellate work or just litigation students who finish the intensive advocacy program come out as stronger communicators and stronger advocates no matter who they're representing
