Energy is fundamental to the world's economy, but because of climate change, there's a goal of moving the electrical grid away from fossil fuelgeneration but towards renewable energy generation. We're undergoing this incredible transition to renewable energy. This program helps students understand the economics of that, the policy aspects of that, as well as the technology aspects of that. So studying energy systems management is really important right now because there is a lot of change happening in the electricity sector. The program is helping us see all the options that are there in the market. This cohort is so diverse. About half of the students are international and just bring a global perspective to the issues that we're talking about. I find that extremely fascinating. One of the things I really appreciate about the program is that it's built for practical application. It is less research focused. It's more focused on how do you apply this knowledge to a lot of the technology companies who are in business right now. That's what's so great about the program is I'm already applying what I've learned in my day-to-day job. This is an interdisciplinary program. There's courses in technology and engineering, there's courses in economics and finance, and there's courses in policy and law. San Francisco is the hub of the innovations in the world, innovations that can be added to the electric field too. So it's pretty great to have all this knowledge on the same place, and the networking that being here gives us. Coming out of this program, students will not only understand where we have to go with energy transition. They'll have the skills, tools, knowledge to be leaders in this field. We're the new energy economy.
