This MPH curriculum gives you the tools that you need to be able to research policy, create new policy, and advocate for policy change. [MUSIC PLAYING] So the MPH program on the Sacramento campus focuses on health policy leadership. And that means all the aspects of designing, assessing policies that would improve the health of populations. Having to be in the capital city, we're right here with policy happens for the entire state. And what's so important about California is what a lot of things that we do with shaping policy affects the nation. So we're definitely a focal point. Public health refers to the-- it also focuses on how to advocate for policy change. We have a requirement for 250 hours of fieldwork. We call it an applied practice experience. And we place students in a variety of organizations. We help them actually find their practicum because it really has to match their needs and interests. The campus has brought in professors from all over the Sacramento Valley that know the government. They know policy, they know leadership, they've worked in making changes happen. For me, having evening classes and also only being one day a week was-- it was perfect. What's amazing about the cohort in the Sacramento campus-- it's a smaller cohort. So I think there was maybe about 18 students in total. And we were all passionate about something different. Program ends with an Integrated Learning Experience, or an ILEX. That's a capstone paper, and then the final piece of that is to give a professional presentation, where they're delivering their work in front of an audience and getting that feedback from the audience, answering questions on the fly, really showing that they've mastered their material. It was I think one of the best investments I made of myself. I'm extremely happy that I chose USF to complete my graduate program. I think it's a great program, and I would definitely recommend it to anybody that's looking to pursue public health.
