Our campus — perched on a hilltop in the center of San Francisco — serves as a platform for conversations that advance the inclusive spirit of the university and the city. We were founded here; this is where we grew up. With that history comes an important responsibility to strengthen the greater San Francisco family.
As a university, we engage with diverse communities around San Francisco the best way we know how: through education. That means bringing together experts and activists for clinics, conferences, and conversations that showcase unique perspectives from around the city and the world.
Engage San Francisco
Engage San Francisco is a transformative initiative that supports children, youth, and families in the Western Addition neighborhood through student learning, research, and teaching. The Western Addition and the University of San Francisco are deeply interconnected, not just geographically, but through history and intergenerational relationships. As the city’s first university we are uniquely situated to address issues related to the poverty and inequality in the Western Addition, and we do this work in partnership with residents and service providers to address a lack of access to high quality and affordable housing, healthcare, and education.
