USF in the Community
USF’s commitment to community service is embedded in the fabric of our campus culture. For more than 150 years, the university has served the citizens of San Francisco and enriched the lives of thousands of people. From educating mayors and police chiefs, to supporting computer labs in the Tenderloin, to working at local schools and food banks, to building neighborhood gardens, USF has a rich history of giving back to the San Francisco community.
During any given academic year, more than 6,000 undergraduate and graduate students — more than half of our student body — are involved in community services around San Francisco. In the 2013-2014 academic year, USF students engaged in more than 600,000 hours of community service work.
Alumni Leaders in San Francisco
Our alumni are impressive. More importantly, they’re impactful; taking the skills they acquired at USF and using them to challenge the status quo from here.
