Technology: Hardware Purchases

There are standards and regulations for the institutional purchases of hardware for computers and equipment. Maintaining these standards and regulations are a joint effort between Purchasing Services and ITS.  Please see below for the specifics on purchasing hardware.

  1. Computers and Monitors
Please consult with ITS on your eligibility to purchase new computing equipment on the network under the University's annual Computer Replacement Program. You may visit ITS' Hardware Standards page to learn more about the hardware standards and process for requesting new computer equipment.

Once you have determined your eligibility to purchase new computer equipment for your department, please submit your approved requisition to ITS. A quote will be requested from the appropriate vendor. ITS will forward the requests and supporting documents to Purchasing Services for ordering. Please allow 10-14 business days for processing. Other restrictions may apply.

  2. Peripherals
The purchase of a keyboard, mouse, external hard drive, USB-compatible hardware and memory are not regulated by the UITC (University Information Technology Committee).

For peripheral purchases, please submit your approved requisition with a detailed description (item description, item/catalog number, suggested price and vendor, etc.) of the item(s) to Purchasing Services. Purchasing Services will contact our technology vendor resources for a quotation and ensure the best price within the suggested availability is met.

  3. Audio Visual
Purchasing Services and Classroom Technology maintain the e-NAP (Educational National Program) for EPSON America. Through the e-NAP agreement, USF is exclusively eligible for advantages such as: extended 3-year warranties, next day replacement service, support & supply assurance, and exchange programs. Please visit ITS' Classroom Technology page for more information.
