Pro Tips

“Be persistent.”

How do you land an internship? Ask finance major Chelsey Gonzalez ’19. Last summer she was a project manager intern at Comcast in Philadelphia, working in the operations department of Comcast Business.

Through Miriam Karpilow from Career Services, I found out about the T. Howard Foundation which promotes diversity in the media industry, and after a rigorous application process was able to get into the final talent pool. This foundation sent my resume to many different media companies who interviewed me and finally I landed my internship with Comcast. In the interview, I talked about a semester-long project in which I analyzed data, and showed the knowledge I could bring to Comcast.

Be persistent. Apply to as many internships as possible and even when you think you found the one or got rejected from your dream internship, keep applying. Keep all of your options open and use all the resources available to you. A huge help to me was utilizing the Career Services Center. It’s very important to realize we have an amazing staff that is willing to help and support all students.
