Family Nurse Practitioner DNP: BSN-DNP Clinical Nurse Leader Track

The Family Nurse Practitioner Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) Doctor of Nursing Practice track is ideal for the student interested in a CNL Masters in conjunction with the DNP degree. Enter as a Registered Nurse with a Bachelor's in Nursing, and leave with a Master's in Nursing (Clinical Nurse Leader) and a Doctor of Nursing Practice Degree.

In this track, you have the option to complete the CNL and DNP projects in your current workplace.

Upon completion of the program, you will complete the required coursework and clinical hours to meet the AACN Essentials of Doctoral Education for Advanced Nursing Practice.

Program Delivery

The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Role programs have a variety of delivery methods due to their interprofessional nature.

  • A key element of our program is the in-person intensives. These intensives provide time for you to work together and receive feedback from faculty and peers.
  • Our program is committed to accessible education for the working professional. However, clinical practicum requirements of the program require flexibility in your schedule.

The Nurse Practitioner courses are offered in a variety of delivery formats.

  • Some tracks have courses which meet during the week during business hours or in the evening.
  • Some courses are offered in a blended format where the courses are offered one week on-campus and the alternating week online.
  • Some tracks are offered entirely online.
  • It depends upon the specialty track you choose to pursue to determine what specific course delivery you will follow.
  • Contact us for more information about program delivery.

The Doctor of Nursing Practice courses are offered in 2 delivery format options: Online and on-campus

  • Both options follow the same course progression and requirements leading to the same degree.
  • You will generally take your Doctor of Nursing Practice courses in the second half of the BSN-DNP program. You can determine which courses are DNP courses in the curriculum plan as they begin with NURS. Choose your program track option and refer to the curriculum plan for a course list.
On-campus DNP
  • In-person teaching intensives are every other weekend on Friday (8 a.m. – 9 p.m.) and Saturday (8 a.m. – 5 p.m.) during the day. See our Teaching Weekend schedule for dates.
Online DNP
  • Our online option includes in-person intensives that are scheduled once a semester, Friday (8 a.m. – 9 p.m.) and Saturday (8 a.m. – 5 p.m.)
