Biography

Mehrnoush Shahhosseini is an assistant professor of finance at the McLaren & Masagung School of Management at the University of San Francisco. Her areas of research are empirical banking, and corporate and household finance. Before joining the University of San Francisco, Professor Shahhosseini received her PhD in economics (finance) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2016. She also has a master’s degree in economics and a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering.

Her most recent paper focuses on the new U.S. bank examinations in response to the 2008 financial crisis, known as stress tests. She empirically showed the impact of higher capital requirements of stress tests on banks’ behavior and lending actions, and the transmission of this shock to the real economy.
