FYIT Job Description & Qualifications


FYIT is currently hiring for the 2014-15 academic year. All tutors must attend weekly training sessions. The tutors work, on average, six hours per week at $11.05 per hour. Tutors work with students individually or in small groups. Mandatory weekly trainings are either Tuesday at dead hour or from 5-6pm. Each tutoring session is between one to two hours. The tutoring sessions occur during the school day or after school. Tutors submit weekly progress notes of the students’ progress. Tutors communicate with the teachers regarding the students’ progress. Tutors must only work with students that were assigned to them by the site coordinator.

Tutors, prior to hiring must be knowledgeable in the subject matter being tutored. They must be reliable and committed to working within their availability. Tutors must demonstrate empathy to the needs of the student population. Tutors bilingual in Chinese, Tagalog or Spanish are preferred.
